ADMISSIONS
CRITERIA Every applicant for admission to JARC will be screened relative to the following
admission criteria:

Have a
documented primary disability of mild or moderate mental retardation but may
have a secondary disability such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, etc. This
program does not meet the needs of persons with severe emotional
impairments;

Possess basic
self-help skills to such a degree that he/she can care for most of his/her
own self-care needs, assist in the maintenance of his/her own living
quarters, care for personal clothing and share in household
responsibilities;

Demonstrate the
adaptive behavior and social skills necessary to succeed in our environment;

Not be a danger
to self or others;

Receive a
determination that living in a JARC group home will be of benefit and in
accordance with assessed needs;

Participate in
meaningful day programming that has been agreed upon by JARC staff, the
family and the resident;

Whether they or
their immediate family members are residents of South Palm Beach County.
Preference will be given to residents of South Palm Beach County. Applicants
from out of South Palm Beach County must be self-funding and demonstrate
that an irrevocable trust has been set up to assure the availability of
funds for future care;

Provide a recent
medical and psychological evaluation (within six (6) months prior to
application) and other pertinent data as requested;

Consent to
receiving a JARC assessment battery which may include evaluation of adaptive
behavior and medical psychiatric and/or psychological reports.
It is the policy
of JARC that no applicant will be denied admission to the program on the grounds
of race, gender, religion, age (exception, under age eighteen (18), national
origin or ability to pay.
